1st Day of School – Welcome Back!

September 1, 2021 - December 16, 2022

Classes begin Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Gold Coast Prep was able to offer a successful and safe in-person learning environment for the 2020-2021 school year by following best practices during a pandemic, adhering to guidance from medical organizations and professionals, and the assistance of the entire Gold Coast Prep community.  For the 2021-2022 school year, we have detailed a COVID-19 Plan with the aim of achieving another safe and successful year. Introducing Tuition Grant Initiative for New Applicants

September 15, 2021 - March 7, 2022

Celebrating 15+ years of preparing our students for the most selective schools in Chicago, a Gold Coast Prep grant initiative has been established to allow new students to join our highly successful program. Each grade, Kindergarten through Eighth, has six (6) grant awards available to eligible applicants:  two (2) $12,000 grants, two (2) $9,000 grants, and two (2) $6,000 grants.  Eligibility is based on positive teacher recommendations and grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admission Tours

September 17, 2021 - February 21, 2022

Offered by appointment.   We recognize the value of a visit, so come meet with our Head of School and learn about the admission process and life at Gold Coast Prep.  We warmly invite you to see first-hand the work the children are doing and the benefits of the Gold Coast Prep experience.  Of course, virtual tours are still an option for those who prefer.  Register for a tour or Zoom meeting to learn more about GCP.

Our middle school students are headed off to Monmouth College to participate in some Classics fun.  We are excited that Odysseus and the Sirens, an original movie written and performed in Latin by our Fifth Graders, will be exhibited at the Monmouth College Classics Day.  This is a biannual interactive education event featuring demonstrations, exhibits, and activities from the Ancient World.   Students are looking forward to donning togas, playing Olympic games, trying on armor, and celebrating the past in a…

Indigenous Peoples’ Day / Columbus Day – No Class

It used to be simple:  celebrate the discovery of America and enjoy the day off.  Today, it's more complicated; and that's a good thing.  That being said, we recognize that Indigenous Peoples' Day/Columbus Day classroom lessons must be developmentally appropriate:  we begin with identifying who, where and when before analyzing why.  All classes participate in activities that raise awareness of the rich history, culture, and traditions of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas.  And while our youngest students chant "Columbus…
